Cats urge patience on seats

- GREG DUNDAS

GEELONG Football Club is keen to get members back in the GMHBA Stadium seats they paid for, acknowledging the present ticketing situation was frustrating some loyal supporters.

The first tickets for this Sunday’s match Geelong and North Melbourne became available Monday through Ticketmaster.

With the stadium presently at 75 per cent of its capacity because of coronavirus restrictions, only social club members and those with reserved seats were able to redeem tickets.

Other members will get their chance at 10am Tuesday, with general admission tickets available at 3pm.

Cats spokesman Kevin Diggerson said the club was keen to return to normal ticketing procedures at its home ground.

“While we would love to have as many people as possible sitting in their usual seats, it is not possible at this time. With limited capacity, currently 75 per cent, we are doing all we can to have people in proximity to their usual seat,” he said.

“Seating is handled by Ticketmaster, rather than the club. We are helping people that have inquiries and keep our members up to date with all relevant information.

“We are appreciative of the ongoing support and understanding of our members. Their continued patience and passionate support is incredible. We know that this is a frustrating period for our members and look forward to the day that they can all be back in their seats cheering the Cats on.”

Club favourites Gary Ablett Jr and Harry Taylor will do a celebratory lap of honour before Sunday’s game with their children.

Because of the COVID-19 protocols, fans are advised to arrive at GMHBA Stadium earlier than normal on Sunday. The Ablett/Taylor lap of honour will happen at 4pm.
