RONE DRAWS GOVERNOR

VICTORIAN Governor Linda Dessau visited the Geelong Gallery on Friday for a guided tour of the successful RONE in Geelong exhibition by artist Tyrone Wright.

Accompanie­d by her husband, former County Court judge Anthony Howard, QC, Ms Dessau added to the thousands of people who have already viewed the exhibition.

RONE in Geelong is in its final weekend, with 4000 people expected through the gallery doors in the next two days.

Geelong Gallery director and chief executive Jason Smith lauded the success of exhibition from one of Geelong’s own.

“With over 41,000 people through the exhibition thus far and a very busy final weekend ahead, it was a great opportunit­y for the

Governor and Mr Howard to view the exhibition in the company of the artist Tyrone Wright,” Mr Smith said.

The exhibition has been the gallery’s most successful Geelong-curated and solo artist exhibition in its 125year history.

Only the 2017 and 2018 Archibald Prize, touring from the Art Gallery of NSW, provided larger visitor numbers
