Work test abolition a victory for all
THE recent federal budget contains a big plus for selffunded retirees, wherein the draconian “work test” requirement has been abolished up to age 74 from July next year.
The abolition of the “work test” is the result of several years of consultation with former Corangamite Liberal MP (now Senator) Sarah Henderson and her continued advocacy with the Treasury in support of easing the unfair regulation, while maintaining a balance with the overall superannuation regime.
For Senator Henderson and the Morrison government to listen to the electorate and follow through in a positive manner, even after the seat of Corangamite was lost in the last federal election, is very encouraging, irrespective of your political persuasion.
