Club says: “We have revamped our coaching structure to get the most out of our boys and believe that this increased focus on training and mental preparation will help our guys find another gear. We’re aiming for finals and once you’re there anything can happen. We also know that several of our key players, such as Cooper Bingham and Dylan Hodge, have an extra gear, and we believe that this will be a breakout season for them.”
Team to beat: “North Geelong always seem to find a way to win and are always up for a battle, while East Belmont have some matchwinners in their team and, if Sean O’Neill can have another season like last year, anything is possible.”
— performance coach Tom Meredith
Scanlon’s inclusion stiffens the batting and his presence alongside Isaac Hogan and George Chisholm should allow expansive players like Meredith, Bingham and Hodge to have a more substantial platform from which to launch big innings. A fully fit Jacko Davis offers the Combine invaluable new-ball firepower. If Newtown & Chilwell can find another 10 per cent, it’ll turn last summer’s close losses into wins and play finals.
