ROCKY ROAD TO UPGRADE AIRPORT CONNECTION

-

WHY would we move the Avalon terminal to suit a railway line?

Where is the climate change efficiency in having to transport passengers across the freeway?

Can this rail be achieved for $30m, including the rail infrastructure and costs of transporting passengers?

Will all passengers now park their cars across the road using this new facility and land purchasing?

What will happen to the existing terminal? How will this railway line be of any benefit to transport goods for air freight?

Do those praising this idea have the answers and detailed costings?

If we are going to have efficient rail transport to the airport, it must be to the airport where containers and goods can be on rail and not diesel trucks.

This plan is the same stupid plan that built Tullamarine

Airport without any rail connection. This was done to finance the road and effectively sell our road to Transurban for a lifetime of payments instead of our one-off taxes.

This continues today with the sale of VicRoads due to the government’s running down of the service, (their computer system is chaotic and was used by Noah and his ark), making it easier to sell than making it work. The result will be massive fee increase – if that is possible as their charges are already absurd.

Getting a second-rate or fourthrate rail service matches what we have in the western region where trains are at half speed due to the lack of maintenance of rail infrastructure.

This means a two-hour rail trip now takes four hours.

The added costs for staffing are enormous and goods are now being diverted to roads.
