Building boom for coastal life

- PETER FARAGO

WORK is expected to start on the final homes in a waterfront Bellarine Peninsula housing estate after the developer completed the final civil construction stage.

Bisinella Developments announced construction had finished on the 14th stage of its Baywater Estate at Curlewis, which will be home to about 380 dwellings once housing construction was complete.

Already more than 1000 residents call Baywater Estate home, with more than 200 homes already built.

Allan and Margot Louttit bought the first block in 2013, when the estate was still paddocks.

After moving into their dream home in 2016, the couple have seen Baywater Estate transform into a lively and welcoming community.

“I have been fishing in this area since I was teenager and wanted to be close to the water and a boat ramp,” Mr Louttit said.

“We have a perfect set-up here, it is such a beautiful area, and we have wonderful neighbours everywhere.”

Mrs Louttit said everything they needed was close by.

“We don’t even need to go to town (Geelong),” she said.

“It’s just so peaceful and serene. Our whole house has magnificent views.

“We can see all the way to Portarlington and across to the You Yangs, and I can lie in bed and look at Melbourne.”

Covid lockdowns have accelerated interest in the final stages of Baywater Estate in the past 18 months, a demand that has transferred to the company’s next development, Seaside Estate at St Leonards.

Bisinella director Richard Bisinella said he was proud to see the vision come to fruition.

The estate is closest to the water on the Jetty Rd growth area, one of the main urban growth corridors on the Bellarine Peninsula.

“Baywater Estate is a testament to the hard work and foresight of Wellam Constructions, CardnoTGM and Mexted Rimmer & Associates, landscape design firm Ausscapes and the entire Bisinella team who have created a vibrant coastal community,” Mr Bisinella said.

“It has been fantastic to see the evolution of Baywater Estate into a thriving community with a range of beautiful, unique home designs that reflect the estate’s coastal location, complemented by striking landscaping.”

Construction of Bisinella’s 140-lot Bellaview Estate was completed in 2017.

Construction on stages one to three of the 230-lot Seaside Estate is under way, with land in stage five due to be released in early next year.
