WIPED OFF MAP
VOLNOVAKHA: An entire city in eastern Ukraine has now been taken by the Russian military, the regional governor conceded on Sunday.
Russian-backed separatists have claimed to have captured Volnovakha.
It comes after days of heavy bombardment from the air and ground demolished much of the small but strategically important city of 21,000 people.
Footage shows Russian soldiers and armoured vehicles in the metropolis, surrounded by burnt-out buildings.
Many local civilians had managed to escape before the incursion.
