TIME FOR COUNCIL TO STOP SELLING OFF ASSETS

-

CITY of Greater Geelong, stop selling and giving away ratepayer assets to balance the books for your poor financial decisions.

Instead can I suggest in every street of 60 or more house lots, where 20 or more of those lots accommodate multi-dwellings, that the council buy a house lot for public space?

The numbers can be tweaked and sites selected based on need and demand.

Buy the worst house in the street. Bulldoze it, put in play equipment and maybe a few child health centres, suburban libraries or whatever residents see as most needed. Start putting play parks and community open space back into established built-up areas.

Instead of sell-offs, try balancing your books by making savings.

A cheaper CEO we never hear from and a few less hybrid job offers might be a good start.
