Where to cast your vote early

- CHAD VAN ESTROP

THREE early voting centres in the Geelong region will open on Monday for the May 21 federal election.

The Animal Justice Party, the Greens and Liberal Democrats have recommended voters preference Labor ahead of the Liberals in Corangamite, while One Nation has instructed voters to preference Liberal Stephanie Asher before Labor’s Libby Coker.

Australian Federation Party candidate Stephen Juhasz, United Australia Party’s Daniel Abou-zeid and Derryn Hinch’s Justice Party’s JeanMarie D’Argent are yet to publish Corangamite voting cards.

On Monday from 8am, early voting will start at Torquay’s Wurdi Baierr Stadium, Geelong West Town Hall and Deakin University’s waterfront campus.

Early voting starts at Lara Community Centre on May 14 from 9am, and Central Baptist Church, Clifton Springs, from 8.30am on May 16.

“If you can vote on election day, that’s what you should do,” Australian Electoral Commissioner Tom Rogers said.

“However, if your circumstances might prevent you from doing that, then you need to think about the early voting options available.”

On May 21, polling places will be open from 8am-6pm.
