READ ALL ABOUT IT, MALDIVES STILL THERE

-

JUST read an article in the Canberra Times that predicted the gradual rise in sea levels would mean the complete covering of the Maldives’ 1196 islands within the next 30 years and water supplies would dry up within the next four years.

The article was dated September 1988.

Last time I checked the Maldives was still welcoming tourists and, indeed, has increased the size if its airport because of greater tourist numbers.

Just another prediction that has not come true. Just like all of the other doomsayers trying to ruin our lifestyle that we treasure so much.

I have yet to see any climate change disasters in Geelong, Victoria or even Australia.

CONGRATULATIONS to everyone concerned with organising the Clairvaux Primary School Book Fair on Sunday. Very well set out and very fair prices. Extremely happy with my purchases.

TOTALLY agree with G. McDonald (GA, 2/5), but the council should buy the worst house in the street turn it into a carpark for local residents and give us back our streets!

Street parking is driving me mad

THE council permitting developers to build more houses on fertile farm land in Leopold (G/A, 28/4) is reducing the food bowl.

WILL the $52m sale of the four City of Greater Geelong properties go towards paying off the loan to build the civic centre or be squandered?

IN the Geelong Advertiser letters (3/5) Amy Hiller, of Kew, is also Dr Hiller when she writes to the Fin Review and whatever when she writes elsewhere.

She talks of left/right rifts but the concept of left/right is a creation of Stalin in the ’30s. There is much debate to be had and Hiller is not the one to decide when and if debate is over! However, transparency is important and clarifying which organisation you represent in your letter writing campaign is vital to understanding. Can you confirm that you co-ordinate with

Karen C. and Karen L. and Geoff and Ray (from Hawthorn)?

DID you know that under the Equal Opportunity Act in Victoria, the vaccination mandate is negated, not only if you have a medical exemption, but also if it is against your religious beliefs? If employers discriminate against employment because of your religion it is illegal.

WELL done, Kaz, you are clearly blessed with the same bigotry and arrogance as your hero Scott Morrison. Same old tired, angry right-wing accusations dressed up as opinion each week. Very sad.

SO Albanese will work with business to invest in manufacturing in Australia. Let’s not forget that under Labor’s Senator John Button, back in 2000, it was Button’s plan that killed the car industry in Australia. Will the constituents of the federal seat of Corio punish the Labor Party for the loss of their jobs? Probably not. Again. Labor is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

INFLATION! Interest rate rises! No plans for the environment! Allowing the Chinese to build up defence in South Pacific. If this shonky government gets back in, I'll leave the country.
