JAN JUC’S JULIET LOOKING TO BREAK THROUGH AT HOME

-

RISING Jan Juc surfing star Juliet Muscroft will eye a berth in the national titles when she takes to her home break this weekend.

Muscroft will compete in the third and final stop of the Victorian junior surfing titles on Saturday and Sunday, when the state champions will be crowned.

The state’s best under-14 to under-18 surfers will be in action at Jan Juc, with the top surfers earning selection on the

Victorian team for the Australian junior surfing titles on North Stradbroke Island later this year.

It is a tight race in the under16 girls, with Muscroft, Rye’s Sara Hickson and Shoreham’s Sophie Wilkinson all in the running.

Hickson and Wilkinson already have a win under their belt, however Muscroft has a second place from round 1 that could take her to victory if paired with a win in this event.

Fellow locals Remy Roberts (Barwon Heads) and Dune Pruvot (Torquay) will also be looking to put in top performances in the last event of the series.

“It’s going to be exciting to see how the competitors perform under pressure with them needing these results to count towards their series campaign,” Surfing Victoria CEO Adam Robertson said. “There are some really tight divisions with multiple surfers in the running for state champion, which will be interesting to watch unfold.”
