Home court advantage

IT’S A GREAT HOME, EVEN FROM THE TURNOUT IT WAS APPEALING TO MANY. GARTLAND’S NATHAN ASHTON

AN immaculate move-in ready Highton family home complete with cracking backyard featuring a basketball court drove big bidding at auction.

Two bidders made a play for the four-bedroom home at Bilston Court which was listed with a price guide of $1.05m to $1.15m.

With the help of son-inlaw Kevin on bidding duties, local buyer Gail Dunstan paid $1.195m for the 730sq m property.

Daughter Jacquie and granddaughters Ava and Ruby were also on hand to lend support on auction day.

Ms Dunstan plans to move into the home, and said she was drawn to the quiet court location close to Highton and Waurn Ponds amenities.

“My son lives nearby, too, and it will be convenient for me because I come from Bellbrae,” she said.

“I’ve been looking for three months, I sold in February.”

Gartland Geelong auctioneer Nathan Ashton called the auction from the large, covered outdoor entertainment area in the backyard.

“It’s a great home, even from the turnout it was appealing to many,” Mr Ashton said.

“The underbidder was a family man and gave it a redhot go.

“I’m thrilled for the owners, they presented it beautifully, and both the bidders would have loved the home and looked after it equally.”

The home has two living areas centred around a swish kitchen with stone benches, and the ensuite in the main bedroom has been updated to feature a stone benchtop, floor-to-ceiling tiles and a frameless shower.

Outside, the double garage has a rear roller door and the synthetic turf is ideal for cricket, soccer or football.

Beyond the basketball court, that comes with a key, three-point line and spotlights, is a garden shed and open-air storage space.

Other features include motorised awnings in the outdoor entertainment zone, new led lights and ducted heating.
