ON THE RUN TO STAMP OUT SIDS

- OLIVIA SHYING

GEELONG physiotherapist Rob Osborne will run for a cause when he tackles the Great Ocean Road Running Festival’s half marathon this weekend.

Mr Osborne will run the course to raise money and awareness for Geelong charity River’s Gift.

Charity co-founder Karl

Waddell will take part in the event with his two young children in memory of son River, who died from SIDS in 2011.

“As the co-founder of

River’s Gift, it means a lot to me to have people representing our cause and wearing our blue singlets,” he said.

“We’ll have a number of representatives helping us

advocate in our pursuit of stamping out SIDS.”

Mr Waddell, who is injured, will wear the River’s Gift elephant mascot suit while taking part in the kids’ event.

To date, River’s Gift has raised more than $1.5m for SIDS.

The festival will be held over Saturday and Sunday with various events for all abilities.
