JOHN Calvert (GA, 7/5) fails to realise that nuclear power is completely impractical for the many reasons outlined in my previous letter.
His championing of coal is not only bad for the environment but more costly when used to generate electricity. The most expensive
wholesale price for electricity is in NSW and Queensland, where black coal is the main power source, and cheapest in Tasmania, South Australia and Victoria, where renewables are much more widely used.
Where does John think there is “vehement public opposition” to emission targets.
Even the Coalition supports the
