PAT NOT FUSSED BY GF TIME AS LONG AS CATS IN CONTENTION

-

THE starting time of the AFL Grand Final does not bother Cats star Patrick Dangerfield, as long as Geelong is playing in the game.

After years of discussion surrounding a twilight grand final, and the past two deciders being played under lights in Perth and Brisbane, the AFL is set to announce this year’s showpiece game will not be played in the traditional 2.30pm time slot.

But Dangerfield (pictured) said he was happy for the grand final to be played at any time of the day or night, as long as the Cats were on the field.

“Just as long as we’re in the game, (it could be) 9 o’clock in the morning if the Cats are playing, then that’s all I really worry too much about,” he said. “I think it’s a great spectacle either way, but any way we can improve the game for the audience and for fans I think is an important discussion to have.”

AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan, who will depart the role at the end of the season, has been a long-time advocate for the twilight slot.
