With so many external voices and opinions on your wedding day, these techniques are a fantastic way for you to switch off and tune into yourself.

And in doing so you are clearing your mind in all aspects of your life, and hopefully creating a happier you.

Working on your mindset is a really healthy way to shift your relationship with your body, particularly ahead of a wedding when it’s easy to put all the emphasis on appearance.

If you are happy within yourself, that will shine through and you will radiate.

SOUL

Please do not deprive yourself of the things that make you happy in the lead up to your wedding.

Food is not a reward that needs to be earned. If you want to eat chocolate every day, then eat chocolate every day.

Looking after your heart is one of the most important things not just in the lead up to a wedding but always. Don’t deprive yourself of life’s joys in the name of unwarranted pressure.

Surround yourself with supportive people and live life how you want to live it.

If you are feeling overwhelmed lean on your bridal party and ask them for help or use them to vent to if you need.

Wedding planning, particularly around work and family committments can be allconsuming. Prioritise scheduling some you time to ensure you look and feel your best on your big day by taking the time to get a facial or a massage.

BODY

Let’s be realistic here. If you start exercising just a few weeks out from your wedding, it is likely you won’t get the results you want, and you won’t be feeling good either having probably deprived yourself of food.

If you’ve never loved running, lifting weights or getting your sweat up previously, it is unlikely getting married is going to change that. Instead, you need to pick some form of activity you might enjoy.

Why not try a few different things to see what you like. Most places have a seven-day free trial so give pilates and yoga a go for a week, and then try an outdoor bootcamp, and then try strength training at a gym.

If none of these take your fancy, don’t stress about it and don’t force yourself to do something as it is more important to be happy.

The Australian Government’s Department of Health recommends adults should be active most days.

Each week adults should do either 2.5-5 hours of moderate intensity physical activity such as a brisk walk, golf or mowing the lawn, 1.25-2.5 hours of vigorous intensity physical activity such as jogging, fast cycling or netball, or an equivalent combination.

The department recommends building activity into your day, like walking to the shops instead of driving, using the stairs instead of the lift, getting off the bus one stop earlier and walking to a park to eat lunch.

Take your mind, body and soul into account when preparing for your wedding, but remember make it a lifestyle change and keep it going for the rest of your life.
