VOTE FOR THE CLIMATE FOR THE SAKE OF CHILDREN

-

IT was heartening to read Chad Van Estrop’s Corangamite vox pop results (What matters to you, GA, 30/4) with the repeated mention of the importance of climate.

We are not alone and the latest #SetTheAgenda poll of 10,000 Australians revealed that 62 per cent of people rate climate change as the issue having greatest impact on their life.

We get that a warming world will profoundly impact all aspects of our lives.

With an election coming up, it’s timely to consider the impact our votes will have on future climate change policy and action, particularly in marginal seats like Corangamite.

Before voting, it is useful to view proposed policies and actions through a climate lens first.

Ask, will this policy be good for life on Earth?

Will the policies of this party or independent combat climate change, help workers in fossil fuel industries make a just transition, and create clean, green jobs for future generations? If most Australians vote climate, we will get a greener government, one our children crave and deserve.
