THE sister of Andrew Symonds says her “heart is broken” as police continue to search for answers over the crash that killed the cricket legend (below).

Symonds, 46, died after his car veered off Hervey Range Rd at Alice River and rolled outside Townsville on Saturday night.

He died at the scene, despite the efforts of paramedics and a couple who rushed to his aide.

His sister Louise has left an emotional handwritten note among floral tributes at the site of the tragedy.

“Gone far too soon!” she wrote. “Rest in peace, Andrew.

“I wish we had one more day, one more phone call.

“My heart is broken. I will always love you, my brother.”

The police forensic crash unit is investigating all avenues, including whether alcohol was a factor, and whether Symonds was wearing a seatbelt.

Townsville Acting Chief Superintendent Chris Lawson said a post-mortem was yet to be conducted.

“That will depend on when a doctor can be flown up (to Townsville),” he said.

It is understood there is not a designated doctor in the region who can conduct those types of procedures.

Shattered Queensland and Australian cricket teammates of Symonds went to Brisbane’s Story Bridge Hotel on Monday to remember a life like no other.

“Some great stories and memories were renewed,’’ said former fast bowler Greg Rowell, now a Cricket Australia board member.
