Labor Anam Cara House promise

- CHAD VAN ESTROP

ANAM Cara House will receive $2.95m to help improve person-centred end-of-life care if Labor wins government.

The money is slated to boost palliative care at the new Anam Cara House, under construction in Waurn Ponds.

The funds will also help continue a research and teaching partnership with Deakin University and Anam Cara.

Anam Cara House chair Diana Taylor said the hospice’s partnership with Deakin at its Waurn Ponds campus would be a critical component of the level of care Anam Cara provided.

She said Labor’s promised support would “allow us to significantly invest in bedside teaching and research that will benefit people now and in generations to come”.

Corangamite MP Libby Coker said the new Anam Cara House would “continue the legacy of providing local families with palliative care choices and world-class end-of-life care.”

Corio MP Richard Marles said: “This is a project which Labor proudly supports and understands the importance of giving guests choice and final wishes.”
