ARTICLE SKIPS OVER DAMAGE OF BIKE PATHS
IT was interesting to read Trent Sullivan’s article (GA, 11/5), telling us of all the great work the City of Greater Geelong is involved with, including a $2.6bn investment in support of infrastructure in regional Victoria, building an athletes’ village and so on, but, strangely, not a word about the council’s highly controversial decision to proceed with its bike lane plan.
Yes, it is common knowledge that the council is currently seeking feedback for this very project but it will only serve a purpose for those involved.
To claim it listened to constituents, when reality says the CoGG is going to end up ruining the High St precinct, just as it has done to the central business district in Geelong!
The plan is absurd and outrageous when so many oppose it. Perhaps run a bike lane over the Barwon bridge and left up Francis St if it must proceed, but the better plan for most is to abort the idea all together
