THOUSANDS of people will take part in Victoria’s largest dog walking event, the Million Paws Walk, this weekend.

More than 5000 people and their canine companions are expected to turn out across the state for Sunday’s event, with 500 anticipated at Geelong’s walk.

The annual walk raises funds for RSPCA Victoria, with events held across Victoria, including at the Geelong Botanic Gardens from 9am-1pm.

RSPCA Victoria chief executive Liz Walker said the event was highly anticipated following Covid.

“After a tough few years, we’re looking forward to a true community celebration where people and their dogs will connect and come together for RSPCA to raise funds for our work to end animal cruelty,” she said.

“The event will be great fun with plenty happening to keep both humans and dogs entertained.”

The fundraising target is $360,000, with every dollar going to RSPCA Victoria.
