FOUR prisoners are facing serious charges over a violent

that left an inmate fighting for life.

Convicted carjacker Kyle Beattie was targeted in a frenzied stabbing at Barwon Prison on April 1.

It is alleged the 23-year-old was jumped by four prisoners who used makeshift knives in the allegedly planned attack.

Beattie suffered life-threatenin­g injuries and was flown to the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

A 29-year-old man was charged this week with intentiona­lly cause injury, affray and assault and will appear at Geelong Magistrate­s Court on November 17.

A 36-year-old man was charged with intentiona­lly cause injury, affray and assault.

A further two prisoners, aged 30 and 33, were charged with affray. All three will face Geelong Magistrate­s Court on November 22.

Beattie has conviction­s for multiple crimes, including carjacking, ramming a police car, break-ins and driving, drugs and weapons offences.
