AFLW player and pro boxer Tayla Harris has kicked off the 2022 Give Geelong Appeal, by sharing her inspiring story at the Give Where You Live Foundation’s Give Geelong Breakfast.

The Melbourne player shared her rise to sporting stardom, how she has used her voice to advocate for preventing violence against women and gender-based online abuse, as well as how she has overcome challenges.

More than 200 people were at the breakfast at GMHBA Stadium on Thursday morning, which raised about $28,000.

The Give Where You Live Foundation is asking the community

to get behind its 2022 Give Geelong Appeal, which runs until Saturday. Foundation chief executive Bill Mithen said the appeal raised vital funds to create a fairer G21 community.

As part of the appeal, businesses across the region will come together on Friday and don their footy colours to raise money.
