I’ll deliver for Corangamite
Stephanie Asher is the Liberal candidate for the seat of Corangamite
THIS election, Corangamite has a clear choice.
I am very grateful and proud to live in the Corangamite electorate and I care deeply about what happens for locals and people moving to the area.
I’ve always been an active volunteer in my community and I decided a decade ago that if I wanted to influence positive change, I needed to get involved in politics.
I’m standing in this election because I understand that in times of uncertainty, our community needs a positive and trusted local representative with a proven record of delivery.
As the Mayor of the City of Greater Geelong since 2019, I led our local response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
I am proud of the achievements during this time, including the delivery of seven support packages that assisted business, community groups and residents to get to the other side.
These initiatives provided practical help and contributed to the strong position Geelong, the Bellarine and Surf Coast are in to face the future.
As part of my leadership, I also led the council’s response to our environmental future, setting a target of net-zero by 2035 for Greater Geelong, driven by comprehensive community consultation.
I have launched my local plan for Corangamite prioritising local jobs, health and wellbeing, liveability, sport and community connection and protecting our local environment.
This plan will deliver upgrades to community facilities across our local communities, including in Torquay, Inverleigh, Barwon Heads, Bannockburn, Queenscliff, Portarlington, Leopold, Breamlea, Ocean Grove and more.
Delivering the shared facilities that communities deserve will support community health and wellbeing and help rebuild social connections across Corangamite.
My local plan includes establishing a Corangamite road safety taskforce to build on the substantial investment in safer local roads by the Morrison Liberal government, including the transformational duplication of the Princes Hwy between Colac and Winchelsea.
Furthermore, my local plan commits $200m towards completing the critical Barwon Heads Rd upgrade – meaning safer, quicker and easier commutes for local residents.
Corangamite continues to grow at a rapid pace and unless we act now and deliver a strong plan that means more and better community facilities, local liveability will suffer.
This election, Corangamite has a clear choice.
A choice between an experienced and professional leader with a track record of delivery, and an ineffective representative who is letting local communities down.
A choice between a local plan for stronger, more active and better-connected communities, or a populist plan with no depth or economic logic.
A choice between a true representative who lives locally and is prepared to stand up for the things that matter, or a local member beholden to the whims of Canberra.
Corangamite cannot risk Labor or afford three more years being left behind.
This election, back strong and healthy local communities by voting one Stephanie Asher.
