GYMS A COSTLY EXERCISE

-

MILLIONS of Aussies are overspending on their gym membership, according to new research from Finder.

A Finder survey found more than 1.2 million Aussies were overspending on their membership, costing a whopping $5.4m per year.

Nearly a third of gymgoers (32 per cent) are spending more than $20 a session, based on how frequently they worked out.

This includes 8 per cent who are wasting $1024 a year just to attend the gym once or not at all.

The research found that the 5 per cent of Australians who attended once every six months were spending the equivalent of $512 a session, while it cost $256 a session for the 7 per cent who got sweaty once every three months. The average weekly spend is $19.70, which is $8.60 a session if attending twice a week.
