DO those supporting Anthony Albanese’s $1 an hour pay rise,

(GA, 13/5), realise a $1 increase could amount to at least $40 a week for each employee, which would have to be paid for by small business, which is doing it tough at present? What happens to the wages cost if inflation goes up to 7-10 per cent or more?

This was the point Scott Morrison was trying to put across, that small business and the economy would suffer and employers would have to cut staff.

If, as Albo says, wages should keep pace with inflation, what happens if the world’s problems ease and inflation decreases, do employees keep their pay rises? Les Williams, East Geelong.
