COLLABORATION BEST WAY TO MEET CHALLENGE
THYS Heyns is correct that the global energy transformation is the “Greatest challenge of our generation” (18/5) and it will necessitate massive collaboration.
At the recent Geelong Technology and Innovation Summit, there was a call for natural gas as having less carbon so good as a solution.
But since gas is mostly methane, the best solutions for Geelong are the rapid development of renewables plus storage.
As for the rest of the world, the reforms may involve importing renewable sourced electricity from countries like Australia, or developing a type of nuclear.
Obviously, the UN climate fund raised by wealthy nations is essential to assist poorer countries to fund making the changes.
The world’s climate crisis is critical now and we need action in just the next few years.
