FOSSIL FUEL GUY’S ADVICE NEEDS CAREFUL LOOK

-

TAKING advice on how to transition to renewable energy from someone who’s earned their keep promoting oil and gas is like seeking health advice from a snake oil salesman (Greatest challenge of our generation,

GA, 18/5).

Despite now being the deputy chair of the Geelong Manufacturing Council (and a consultant), Thys Heyns is a fossil fuel guy with 35 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry, most recently as the CEO of Viva Energy.

Given this, it is wise to unpack his endorsement of the Viva gas import terminal.

Geelong seeks a Clever and Creative future, so let’s look further afield on this most vital issue.

Perhaps an opinion piece from Saul Griffith on a vision to move to a sustainably sourced electric future could provide some balance.
