Council to vote on plan for 41 houses on block
A DEVELOPER bid to build more than 40 houses and townhouses on a residential Grovedale block, lodged shortly after similar plans were rejected, is back on Geelong council’s agenda this week.
The City of Greater Geelong’s planning committee is scheduled to meet on Thursday to vote on a recommendation to approve an application to build 41 houses and townhouses on an
8093sq m Marshalltown Rd property.
A vote scheduled in
April was postponed due to a lack of available committee members.
The project, expected to cost developers $8m, was lodged by Villawood Homes and Eden Builders last year, and included two four-bedroom, nine threebedroom and 30 twobedroom dwellings – with all but four to be doublestorey.
The CoGG report recommended the committee approve the plans, despite a similar application for 42 dwellings on the site being knocked back in 2020 for its “excessive” density.
