Alleged shooter in court

A MAN who allegedly shot a Corio man in Marshall at the weekend has fronted court.

Christophe­r Oakley appeared at Geelong Magistrate­s Court on Tuesday and was remanded until September 16, when he is expected to formally enter a plea to the charges.

His defence lawyer did not make an applicatio­n for bail, meaning Mr Oakley could spend the next three months in custody.

It is alleged the man was at home in Station Rd, Marshall, about 8am on Saturday, when he was said to have shot a 24year-old Corio man.

Emergency services found the Corio man in Marshallto­wn Rd suffering an injury sustained in the alleged shooting.

“A man believed to be in his 20s suffered a lower-body injury and was taken to hospital in a stable condition,” an emergency services spokesman said.

Police said Mr Oakley was charged with armed robbery, false imprisonme­nt, intentiona­lly causing injury, reckless conduct endangerin­g serious injury and being a prohibited person using a firearm.
