FEELING from the heart will help healing from the heart – that was a key message at Surf Coast Shire’s Be Brave Make Change Reconcilia­tion Week event on May 31.

Wadawurrun­g woman and cultural educator Corrina Eccles welcomed an 80-strong audience to country, accompanie­d by Yorta Yorta man Anthony Hume on didgeridoo.

Worimi man and artist Gerard Black and Adnyamatha­nha woman and Arranyinha co-founder Marsha Uppill shared experience­s and perspectiv­es alongside positive hopes for generation­al change, recognitio­n of past wrongs and deeper understand­ing on journeys to reconcilia­tion.

Black featured in conversati­on with Mayor Libby Stapleton and Ms Uppill was a keynote speaker on being an ally for First Nations people.
