Tigers braced for tough Frog fight

-

TORQUAY coach Leigh Kentish says his side is prepared for a strong Murgheboluc outfit after the Frogs came from fourth to reach the GCA2 grand final.

The Frogs beat St Peter’s and Geelong City in cutthroat finals to earn a spot in the decider, while Torquay knocked over the Sharks in a qualifying final.

Kentish said the competition had five even teams this summer, despite Geelong City’s regular season dominance.

“I think the top five has been really even this year, any team inside that group can play really good cricket and when they do that, they typically win games,” he said.

“The preparation has been the same for Murgheboluc as it would for any other, we’re certainly not going to underestimate them because we’ve seen them beat some really good sides to get here. “The energy is right up around the group, we’re really excited to be playing off in a grand final.”

Torquay struggled briefly with the bat against Geelong City, falling to 5-45 before recovering to post 181 as the target. Kentish said there was no

“added pressure” on the top order after failing to fire in that first final.

“We’re just making sure we go in and play the same brand of cricket that we’ve been playing all year,” he said. “We just want to be positive with our approach with the bat and try to restrict them with the ball.”
