Corio mum’s drug spiral

Found passed out in driver’s seat

A 23-year-old Corio mum whose life was “spiralling out of control” was found slumped over her steering wheel with drugs in her car.

Tyler Gee, who now lives in Sunshine, pleaded guilty in Geelong Magistrates Court on Monday to a number of charges including trafficking MDMA, trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking GHB and driving related offences.

Gee was found passed out on December 9 in the driver’s seat of her car in the early hours of the morning in Norlane.

Police prosecutor Andrew Clapham said she was observed slumped over the steering wheel of the Holden Captiva with the lights on.

Police opened the door and removed the keys while Gee started to regain consciousness.

Gee told police she had consumed GHB and handed a bag to officers, which the court was told contained GHB, MDMA and methamphetamine.

Police also found digital scales, a ziplock bag containing 500 deal bags, a large bottle containing 140ml of GHB, five pages of notes of sales, names and prices and $335 cash.

Gee was taken to the police station and made full admissions to possessing the drugs.

Gee’s lawyer Matilda Jones said that for a period of six months her client was “spiralling quite quickly into some very serious offending, which left her in remand for three days”.

Ms Jones said the short time in custody motivated Gee to take her rehabilitation seriously and she had “walked the walk” and “proven herself”.

“She is making a 180 (degree turn) on her lifestyle,” Ms Jones said.

Magistrate Peter Mellas sentenced Gee to a community corrections order without convictions.

“I hope you’re feeling healthier and safer,” Mr Mellas said.

“I think you’re starting to think outside of yourself and that’s a good way to approach things.”
