Child sex charges

A 40-year-old man ap­peared be­fore Geraldton Mag­is­trate’s Court yes­ter­day charged with mul­ti­ple child sex of­fences.

The man was charged with one count of sup­ply­ing ju­ve­niles with al­co­hol, two counts of us­ing an elec­tronic com­mu­ni­ca­tion to pro­cure a child un­der 16 to en­gage in a sex act, six of counts of in­de­cently deal­ing with a child aged over 13 but un­der 16, two counts of sex­u­ally pen­e­trat­ing a child aged over 13 but un­der 16, and one count of pos­sess­ing child ex­ploita­tion ma­te­rial. He was not re­quired to plead.

Mag­is­trate Donna Webb said the charges were very se­ri­ous and the of­fender needed to com­ply with his bail con­di­tions “to the let­ter”.

The man will appear in court again at a later date.
