Brawl-accused appear in court
Two girls accused of a brutal assault captured on video and broadcast on social media briefly appeared in Geraldton Children’s Court on Tuesday.
The girls, aged 14 and 15, are both charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, common assault and acts or omissions causing bodily harm.
The charges relate to three separate incidents in Rangeway, which occurred on June 7, August 29 and October 26.
Senior Sergeant Brad Bird has previously described the most recent incident, which was captured on video, as one of the worst he had seen in 28 years of policing.
A third girl, aged 14, was charged with two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, in relation to the June and August incidents.
Magistrate Donna Webb said she was “surprised” the girls were granted bail, describing the charges as “serious offences”.
The girls were not required to enter pleas.
Their bail was extended and they will reappear before the same court later this month.
