It’s not usu­ally painful, just un­pleas­ant. “Women also ex­pe­ri­ence a swelling of bod­ily tis­sues in the gen­i­tals dur­ing sex­ual arousal due to in­creased blood flow to the area,” says Dr Sweeney. “If women don’t or­gasm, it can lead to sim­i­lar feel­ings of heav­i­ness and aching in their gen­i­tals. But ‘blue balls’ is never an ex­cuse for men to pres­sure any­one into hav­ing sex!”
