3 WAYS TO PITCH IT CLOSE MORE OFTEN

-

1 FOCUS ON WHERE YOU WANT THE BALL TO LAND

It’s easy to become too focused on the flag when pitching. If you want to hit the ball close consistently from between 40 and 80 yards, you need to start getting precise with your landing area. Think about how the ball will react once it hits the green and how it will run out to the hole.

2 KNOW YOUR WEDGE YARDAGES

Most amateurs don’t know how far they hit the ball with their wedges. Irrespective of the technique you use to judge distance on these shots, you need to know how far you carry the ball with different length swings, different clubs and different swing speeds.

3 PRACTISE WITH THESE KEY SCORING CLUBS

While most golfers will happily hit drive after drive at the range, or even chip and putt for a while, pitching can be a forgotten area of the game when it comes to practice. Most ranges nowadays have a selection of pitching targets, so always keep this part of your game fresh.
