READ YOUR CHIPS LIKE LONG PUTTS

-

I’m always amazed by how little care most amateurs give to ‘reading’ chips. After all, once the ball leaves the clubface and hits the ground, it’s going to react to the contours on the ground and the green in the same way as a putt. Despite that, many golfers simply take dead aim at the hole without paying any attention to the break. Take the time to survey a chip shot as you would a putt. It will save you time and shots. Look from the side to see the slope and make sure you figure out what the ball is likely to do once it lands and starts to roll out to the hole.
