THE TWO WAYS TO WORK ON YOUR PUTTING

-

GROOVE YOUR FEEL AND DISTANCE CONTROL

Don’t spend your practice putting time before a round aimlessly striking putts. Use your warm-up to get yourself into ‘real-life’ putting mode. Grab five balls and find a putt of about 20 feet. Hit the first ball half way. Hit the next ball past the first but short of the hole… and so on. Your goal is to keep all five balls in play. This will quickly give a good feel for speed.

RECREATE THOSE PRESSURE PUTTS

Whenever you work on the mechanics of your stroke, always try to simulate the pressure of playing for real. A great drill is to place balls around the hole, four or five feet away, and then aim to sink each one. If you miss, you either start the drill again or you take you punishment – some push-ups, for example!
