GRACE’S TRANSITION
Most touring professionals have an extended or straight left arm (for righthanders) at the top of their backswing, which helps to maintain swing width – a vital ingredient in generating power.
Grace, however, has a slight bend in his left arm at the top of the backswing, which is not dissimilar to a position many club golfers get into.
But the important di erence between them and Grace is what he does next.
As he transitions into the downswing, he straightens his left arm and keeps it straight all the way down into impact and through.
By extending his left arm into the downswing, combined with his turning body, Grace is able to generate very good clubhead speed down into the ball.
