The Port Fairy and War­rnam­bool Golf Clubs are giv­ing you an­other won­der­ful op­por­tu­nity to play two of Aus­tralia’s Top-100 Cour­ses dur­ing the 17th Ship­wreck Coast Golf Clas­sic.

The an­nual tour­na­ment – tak­ing place over 36 holes on Novem­ber 10 and 11 – has grown to be­come one of Vic­to­ria’s must-play events for am­a­teurs around Aus­tralia and show­cases some of the re­gion’s best nat­u­ral at­trac­tions.

The $100 en­try fee pro­vides play­ers with rounds at War­rnam­bool (ranked No.84 in Aus­tralia) and Port Fairy (No.43) with daily BBQs in­cluded be­tween 11am and 1pm. Daily 18-hole and over­all tro­phies are also up for grabs.

Those who play to a GA hand­i­cap be­low six will com­pete in stroke play, while ev­ery­one else will be graded into B, C and D grades for sta­ble­ford. The open­ing round will take place at Port Fairy be­fore mov­ing to War­rnam­bool on the Sun­day.

Reg­is­tered play­ers will be able to dis­cover the beau­ti­ful (but wild) 130-kilo­me­tre stretch of coast­line that has wrecked at least 700 ships over time and wit­ness the grandeur of The Twelve Apos­tles along the way.

The Ship­wreck Coast forms part of the Great Ocean Road and spans be­tween Moon­light Head and Port Fairy.

Need­less to say, there is plenty to keep ev­ery­one en­ter­tained be­fore and af­ter the tour­na­ment. From Tours of the re­gion and or­ganic foods to the state wildlife re­serve at Tower Hill and the Flagstaff Hill Mar­itime Mu­seum in War­rnam­bool, the Ship­wreck Coast is well worth an ex­tended stay.
