It would come as no surprise, given the company’s reputation as the number one ball in golf, years of research and development went into Titleist’s creation of the new Tour Speed.
The substantial investment in the development of a new category of golf balls for Titleist was taken further with extensive amateur testing via a prototype model named EXP•01.
The result? “A high performance, multilayer golf ball with a proprietary thermoplastic urethane cover – providing golfers with the fastest, best performing golf ball in its category”, according to the company.
Incorporating a three-piece construction, the Tour Speed produces its distance through greater ball speed and low long game spin, which is complimented by short game consistency and feel.
The new core formulation, fastest ionomer casing layer and 346 quadrilateral dipyramid dimple design drive the outstanding distance of the new model, which offers a penetrating ball flight. And a new thermoplastic urethane (TPU) cover developed specifically by Titleist for Tour Speed creates the necessary spin and control when approaching greens, while also providing a soft feel.
“Golfers can trust that when they tee up a Titleist, they are getting superior performance and quality versus the competition,” Vice President of Titleist Golf Ball Marketing Michael Mahoney said. “Our golf ball scientists and engineers have gone to extraordinary lengths in the development of Tour Speed – testing numerous core formulations and aerodynamic patterns, while formulating and analysing hundreds of TPU cover blends – to deliver on that promise. We have made every investment necessary in these new technologies, including a significant expansion of our manufacturing facility and process.” SRP: $62.95 (dozen).
