SIM GETS AN UPGRADE

-

Comprising of new and existing technologies, the new SIM2 family from TaylorMade includes three drivers and fairway wood models, as well as two rescue and iron offerings.

The three SIM2 driver options – SIM2, SIM2 Max and SIM2 Max•D – maintain the properties of the original SIM drivers designed with aerodynamics and increased clubhead speed in mind and add additional forgiveness. A combination that TaylorMade describes as drivers with no trade-offs.

Comprised of four key parts – a carbon crown, carbon sole, titanium milled back face cup and a high strength aluminium ring that binds the four together – the new models are designed to fifit fit any and every golfer. The new ‘Forged Ring Construction’ and carbon crown allow for greater discretionary weight to optimise ball flights and significantly raise MOI.

The weight saved by the innovative construction has been redeployed to the ‘Inertia Generator’. The Inertia Generator adds clubhead speed and delivers low spin forgiveness in the SIM2, mid-to-high launch and mid-tolow spin in the SIM2 Max and draw bias in the Max•D.

Featuring internal CNC milling, the larger faces of the SIM2 range feature the company’s ‘Speed Injected Twist Face’ technology for improved performance on typical mis-hit locations and injected to maximise face flexing properties, while a ‘Thru-Slot Speed Pocket’ is located on the sole to enhance ball speeds on strikes low on the face.

The carbon crown is the continuation of TaylorMade’s innovation over the past 15 years, while the sole material is stronger and built to withstand and improve turf interaction.

Continuing the reinvigoration of its versatile ‘V Steel’ sole design, TaylorMade set about optimising the CG placement in the new SIM2 fairway woods for improved launch conditions and forgiveness.

The SIM2 Titanium is the smallest and features a Tourinspiredinspired inspired appearance, the SIM2 Max is slightly larger with a steel face construction, whereas the SIM2 Max•D is the largest of the new offerings and is draw biased.

Taking a lead from the extremely popular SIM Max rescue, the new SIM2 and SIM2 Max feature refined shaping and geometry in two distinct shapes.

Playing more like an iron and offering workability, the SIM2 will suit better players, while the SIM2 Max features more forgivness.

Rounding out the new SIM2 range are the game improvement SIM2 Max and SIM2 Max OS irons.

Both utilise new ‘Cap Back Design’, the new models give players forgiveness where they need it most.

The Cap Back Design features a polymer material that covers the entire cavity and adds strength to the topline and upper part of the face, working in unison with a ‘Thru-Slot Speed Pocket’ to increase face flexibility for a larger and more precisely located sweet spot.

An ‘ECHO Damping System’ gives a forged feel to the new irons, the OS featuring wider soles, stronger lofts and accentuated draw bias compared to the SIM2 Max. Contact: To find our more, go to www.taylormadegolf.com.au
