TAYLORMADE SPIDER PUTTERS

The Spider evolution continues.

TaylorMade’s original Spider putter made quite the splash when it was first released, the high moment of inertia (MOI) mallet popular with Tour players and average golfers alike.

And the evolution of the company’s top putters continues, with the recent announcement of four additional options in the Spider family focused on alignement.

Spider EX, Spider X Hydro Blast, Spider S and Spider SR all feature ‘True Path’ alignment to help golfers make more putts and overcome the difficult task of hitting their putts on line, while each model has its own unique qualities to further widen the appeal of the range and assist with different putting issues.

“A lot goes into hitting a solid putt. With this new class of Spider putters, we focused on removing two of those variables: aim and alignment,” TaylorMade’s Bill Price said. “Each model features its own True Path that simplifies the aiming process and helps golfers set up to the ball the same way time after time. While each putter brings something unique to the table, they are bonded by a foundation of forgiveness, stability and True Path alignment that makes it easier to aim.”

Spider X Hydro Blast gives an existing model an allnew look, with high pressure application of water to the aluminium body creating a silver finish in the model that is widely used on Tour, including by World No.1 Dustin Johnson.

Larger than the Spider X, the Spider EX utilises a lightweight aluminium frame and carbon composite centre as well as weights in the heel, toe and rear of the streamlined head to optimise weight placement. A new True Path variation enhances alignment for better players, while a ‘Pure Roll²’ insert improves forward roll and new shaft heightens feel.

An update to the Spider S released last year, the new model owns the same multi-material construction and forgiving shape, with a new archery inspired alignment aid providing a clear focal point close to the putter face.

Smaller than the Spider S, the Spider SR derives its name from the concept of ‘Stability Refined’ and maintains significant MOI in a more compact shape.

Similarly using an arrow-shaped True Path alignment aid, the Spider SR features a ‘Pure Roll’ insert and the new ‘Fluted Feel’ shaft that is also standard in the S and EX models.
