Apply it to your game
Seven steps you can take to ensure that next season’s golf will be better than this one.
1
PRIDE – Identify three things you are proud you achieved over the season. Try to focus on times you were resilient, difficult moments you overcame, or nemesis holes you mastered.
2
LIFE LESSONS – Golf is not just a hobby. It encompasses exercise, fitness, social life and support. Identifying three ways it helped you learn about yourself will remind you of its wider benefits.
3
GOLF LESSONS – Not every day on the course is about improvement, but a good number should be. Identify three things you learnt about your game or approach over the season.
4
SEASON SUMMARY – Create three sentences to sum up your season. Include one area where you let yourself down and two where you did really well.
5
CONTINUE – If you try and start everything afresh, you lose the stuff you’re good at too. So write down three things you will continue to do well.
6
CHANGE – Your reflections should help you realise what you need to do differently. If you try to change too much you often find none of it works. Focusing on three things to improve your performance will give you just enough focus.
7
CHALLENGE – The fun bit. What do you want to achieve next year? Set three challenges to get you excited for next season and give you a reason to stay golf fit over winter.
