Waka tour

Adventure and ecotourism combine on this very special tour at Karitāne, a 40-minute drive from Dunedin. You paddle a waka across the Waikouaiti River to the sandspit, O Hinepouwera, and plant harakeke and help restore the native coastal environment. Karitāne Māori Tours is owned and operated by the local iwi, Kati Huirapa ki Puketeraki, who teach you how to paddle a waka, and share stories about the area.
