NEW ZEALAND OAT MILK!
Oats are one of New Zealand’s most sustainable crops so it seemed crazy to Morgan Maw that oat milk wasn’t being produced here. Now it is, thanks to Maw, who has just released Boring Oat Milk, the first oat milk made commercially in New Zealand.
Maw uses oats grown in Otago and Southland, and processed into oat milk in Hawke’s Bay by The Apple Press. When she started out on this journey three years ago, she was told it couldn’t be done, so she made it her mission to simplify an unsustainable international supply chain and pioneer a domestic one.
Between the reduction in carbon miles, the recyclable bottles and the promotion of regenerative crops, it’s a holistic approach to sustainable improvement.
“At a time when humans are bound by borders, why do our most unassuming natural resources like oats go on global escapades, only to return in a new form?” says Maw. “There’s never been a more important time to support local and we’re so proud to work with local growers, suppliers and manufacturers.”
Maw decided on the name ‘Boring Oat Milk’ “because milk shouldn’t be exciting, it should be consistent, reliable and taste delicious”.
We’ve tried it and give it a big fat tick. Plus, it contains no added sugar.
