You need

air dry clay knife chopstick or pointed stick baking paper textured cloth clear varnish paintbrush turps straight sticks bendable wire

METHOD

Step 1: Cut the clay into cubes. Roll the clay into a ball and flatten them between your fingers. Lay the clay circle on the textured cloth, cover and press firmly to emboss the surface with a subtle texture.

Step 2: Use the knife to tidy up the disc edges. Lay the disk on the baking paper and use the pointed end of the chopstick to stamp holes and carve out words. Tidy the lettering as the clay dries a little.

Step 3:

Allow to fully dry.

Step 4: Coat the disc with clear varnish. I used Resene Qristal Clear polyurethane. Allow each side to dry before turning over to coat the other side. Take care to fully coat each disc. Clean the paintbrush with the turps. Allow the discs to fully dry.

Step 5: Cut the wire into small lengths and use to attach each completed disc to a wooden stick.
