All aboard
Great Southern Rail announces the launch of two epicurean journeys for discerning gourmet travellers.
You could call it the country’s longest dégustation, and certainly the most picturesque.
Combine the romance of train travel with a unique food and wine adventure on the magnificent Indian Pacific. Great Southern Rail has announced the first epicurean-focused journeys, between Adelaide and Perth, with experiences tailored exclusively for the Indian
Pacific and discerning connoisseurs of the good things in life.
The Indian Pacific is already renowned for its food and wine focus, but the experience on these new adventures has been enhanced with the inclusion of interactive culinary sessions, masterclasses and tastings of leading Australian wines, along with multi-course meals designed and prepared by guest chefs. You could call it the country’s longest dégustation.
It’s certainly the most picturesque. The all-inclusive journeys start with lunch, whether in a top Adelaide restaurant before departing to head through the rolling green South Australian wine country, or among the patchwork hills of Western Australia’s Avon Valley, just out of Perth.
Gentle green slopes give way to the singular landscape of the Nullarbor Plain while you’re treated to regionally inspired dishes along with hand-picked wines.
Along the way you’ll enjoy wine and canapés under the stars at the remote outpost of Rawlinna, a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and visit the remote ghost town of Cook, which is inextricably linked to the history of the railway. Places are limited – make tracks and book now.
