Tasting Australia (30 April to 7 May) has taken a turn for the edgy. There’s still the reassuring presence of Maggie Beer and a focus on South Australia’s best produce, but now it incorporat­es more outré talents such as Marco Pierre White, artisanal winemaker Taras Ochota and Slovenian chef Ana Roš (see our feature on page 59). Events are held across the state and include nightly dinners cooked in a purpose-built glasshouse, a wine disco and a feast in the Botanic Gardens. Pay homage to the produce of Orange with tastings, dinners and workshops at FOOD Week (until 9 April). Or head to Byron Bay for five days of global blues and roots music at Bluesfest (13-17 April)., featuring 200 artists.
